Material Selection and Concept Development
Selecting the stone is itself a conceptual decision. We are not bound by the traditional rule of matching subject matter to stone color; instead, we choose material according to the work's conceptual and emotional direction—whether the restrained warmth of white marble, the weathered roughness of granite, veined natural marble, or an iron-bearing mineral marked by rust. What this means for you: every stone has its own material character, and we help you find the one that activates and amplifies your idea.
For large or complex works, we first create a digital model, then produce a clay maquette and, when necessary, enlarge it into a full-scale working model (which may also be reproduced in plaster or fiberglass for further study). What this means for you: before the first cut is made, your work has undergone multiple “virtual rehearsals.” Form, gravity, light, and shadow are tested repeatedly so that every decision is fully resolved.
